WOMEN’S RIGHT

 Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004, and Republic Act (R.A.) No. 9262 


RA 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law of 1997)


This law redefines rape as a crime against person highlight that it violates an individual well-being and not just one’s virginity or purity. Also, consider that any person whether a prostituted person, non-virgin or one who has an active sexual life may be victimized by rape. The law classifies rape as public offense that enables anyone who has knowledge of the crime may file a case on the victim’s behalf.


Rape committed in many circumstances like trough force, threat or intimidation, the victim is deprived of reason or is unconscious, trough machination and the victim is underage. Penalties varies based on the crime, Reclusion Perpetua if the rape committed through sexual intercourse and the Prision Mayor was committed through oral or anal sex. Victims with this law is advised to seek counseling, a secure safe shelter, have evidences, obtain medico-legal certificate and receive a support along the way when she file a case.




Republic Act 7877: Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995


The law declares that all forms of sexual harassment unlawful in employment, education, and training environments, emphasizing the human dignity and rights. It defines work, education, or training-related sexual harassment as any unwelcome sexual advances made by persons in positions of authority, such as employers or educators. The law mandates employers and educational institutions to prevent sexual harassment, establish procedures for reporting and investigating complaints, and create committees to address these issues. Moreover, it holds employers liable for harassment if they fail to act upon receiving complaints. 


Penalties for violate the law include imprisonment and fines, and victims retain the right to pursue independent legal action for damages. The law underscores the importance of creating safe environments free from sexual harassment, with provisions for its implementation and enforcement.

2 OUT OF 4 QUARTERS


As 2nd quarter enter, HTML is new to me. HTML or HyperText Markup Language it is the language of web pages. But then, I enjoy doing our activities on our work station. I gained a lot of knowledge about HTML and HTML tags. Also, the function of the html tags on web pages like <p> </p> that defines as paragraph.


One of the obstacles that I encountered is that how can I manage the 45 minutes doing our activities in our station .Also, I still struggling on how to computer. I admit that I not all familiar to the function of the html tags. 


I address these challenges by managing my time doing our activities even we have a lot of suspensions of classes because of the consecutive typhoon. Moreover, I have to familiarize all the function of the html tags.


Moving on, I will use this HTML lesson in the future. My knowledge and experience will help me understand more in doing HTML activities.

LIFE OF ELPIDIO QUIRINO

 

Elpidio Rivera Quirino was born on November 16,1890, in City of Vigan, Ilocos Sur. He was a Filipino lawyer and politician who served as the 6th President of the Philippines from 1948-1953. He was the third of the nine children of Mariano Quirino and Gregoria Rivera. His first formal education in the private school of Maestro Anastacio Aquino of Aringay, La Union. Later he studied at the Aringay Public School, the San Fernando Provincial School, and the Vigan High School for one year. In 1908 he enrolled in the Manila High School, graduating in 1911. In 1915, he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the the University of the Philippines and passed the bar examination in the same year.


Quirino’s career started with his election as a member of the House of Representatives from Ilocos Sur’s 1st district in 1919, serving until 1925. He ran for and won as a senator in 1925, serving 10 years. He was appointed secretary of the Interior by President Manuel L. Quezon from 1935 to 1938. Although he was again elected senator, he was unable to serve because of the outbreak of World War II. After the country’s liberation, he was elected president pro tempore of the Senate. He became the running mate of Manuel A. Roxas in the 1946 elections and was elected vice president. He then became president of the Philippines, serving the remainder of President Roxas’s term after Roxas passed away, and then winning a fresh mandate in 1948, with Fernando Lopez as vice president. He ran for reelection in 1953 but was defeated by Ramon Magsaysay.


Quirino’s six years as president were marked by notable postwar reconstruction, general economic gains, and increased economic aid from the United States. Basic social problems, however, particularly in the rural areas, remained unsolved; Quirino’s administration was tainted by widespread graft and corruption.

INDIGENOUS RIGHTS

 Every October, we celebrate the month of indigenous peoples and the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act(IPRA) Commemoration. This year, we celebrates Indigenous Peoples Month and the 27th year of IPRA with the theme  “Mga Katutubo at Katutubong Dunong: Pahalagahan, Pangalagaan at Parangalana.” (Valuing, Nurturing, and Honoring Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous Knowledge). Recognizing and celebrating the rich cultures and advocating of indigenous rights. To diverse cultures and traditions of indigenous peoples.

This serves for promoting and protecting the rights and culture of indigenous peoples. This month celebration, empowering the importance of respecting and preserving the culture and traditions of indigenous communities. By providing the value of indigenous knowledge, their cultural heritage, advocate indigenous rights and understanding of indigenous peoples to have a equitable rights and nation for all the ethnic groups in Philippines.




National Indigenous Peoples Month in the Philippines was the rights and cultural heritage of Indigenous communities.  This annual celebration, recognizing the importance of preserving Indigenous knowledge and traditions.  Moreover , the month of a more equitable society that values and respects the diverse contributions of all ethnic groups.

BUILDING RESILIENCY: COMBATING CLIMATE CHANGE

 The Philippines faces significant challenges from climate change. Global warming, primary cause by human activities that affect to our environment. Rising sea levels threaten coastal communities and increasing intense typhoons cause to widespread damage and displacement. That leads to significant impacts in the lives and livelihoods of the Filipino people.


The impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly severe. More frequent and intense typhoons cause widespread destruction and displacement while changing in rainfall patterns leading to both drought and floods. Coastal erosion threaten the resources and infrastructure that impacting food security and livelihoods 


Addressing this complex challenge requires a multifaceted approach. Mitigation efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions are crucial for the long-term effects of climate change. We need more strategies are essential to help communities build resilience to the  impacts already being experienced. A collaborative effort involving government, civil society, and international partners is vital for success.



By doing this, we can help to mitigate the impacts of climate change. Let’s work together to protect our environment and combat climate change.

PROTECTING PILIPINO CHILDREN


The 2024 National Children’s Month Celebration theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines", urgent need to address the widespread violence against Filipino children. It highlights that we need to take action against children to stop from being abused. This aims that children should have a safe and healthy life in their homes, schools and communities.


Violence against children takes many forms including physical and sexual abuse, neglect and maltreatment.  These experiences can leave a long lasting scars, impacting children’s mental and physical health. We need to address this violence against children in order to strengthen the laws and regulations of government in this issue.


In conclusion, we must take action to protect children from violence. Every child deserves a safety and protected life. Together, we can create a safe Philippines.

MONTH OF OUR MOTHER EARTH


 Environmental month is a time dedicated to raised awareness about protecting our planet and promoting sustainable practices. A month filled with events that participates community and organization to take action and care of our planet. It is also about promoting solutions and encouraging sustainable living. It’s about encouraging individuals to have an environmentally friendly way in our lives. 


Recycling is a practice with a benefits for our planet and future generations. It helps has to conserving natural resources.



Cleaning is the removal of dirt and clutter. It is a appreciation for cleanliness, order, and respect for ourselves and our environment.



Last school year, we tasked to plant a vegetables for our thematic project which is the ‘gulay-yan’.Planting is a way of expressing our love for planet and to future generations. It is a way of showing our desire to have a better, healthier, and better life for everyone.



Proper waste disposal is an important part of being responsible and loving to our environment. Refrain from dumping waste in the wrong places, separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, and recycling materials are simple steps that can help maintain the cleanliness and health of our planet.
